LaserTrain's mechanical installation on the train bogie faces a unique set of challenges: tight space, rough conditions (think 100g shocks and rain) and varied bogie types among train operators. We strive to standardize as much as possible, but innovation demands adaptability. Our aim is to invest in rapid prototyping and simulations to ensure a seamless transition when updating LaserTrain models so that they are be primed and ready from day one.

‍

As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll be essential in testing and simulating new designs, ensuring the reliability of LaserTrain's, and managing their installation and operation. Given that autumn is our peak season, you'll have the opportunity to visit clients in the US or Europe for two months each year, observing our products in action and providing valuable support in maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, building, simulating, and testing various LaserTrain design variations.
  • Implementing quality control (QC) for mechanical systems.
  • Supporting certification processes for EU LaserTrain models.
  • Installing and maintaining LaserTrain's at client sites (USA/EU) during the autumn.

Requirements

  • Completed a technical education in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Comfortable and adept at independently solving mechanical engineering challenges.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in CAD software for mechanical systems, specifically AutoCAD Inventor.
  • Demonstrated expertise in simulation software, including Ansys Mechanical, Fluent, and Inventor Simulation.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering and certification processes.
  • Ability to articulate solutions to team members outside of your field.
  • Clear and effective communication skills in English; French is an advantage.
