LASERTRAIN

Designed to deliver quality results, the LPS LaserTrain deep cleans the railhead with the zap of a laser, securing optimal COF for drivers and 24 hours of slip-slide free conditions.

Benefits

Safety

Optimal braking and acceleration, detectable trains and SPAD

Maintenance

Reduction in flat spots and damaged track

Capacity

Fewer cars removed from service; and speed restrictions lifted

Service

Reduced delays and
cancellations for passengers

Energy

Low energy consumption

Punctuality

Trains operate to schedule due to optimal braking and acceleration

Wave goodbye to delays

The LaserTrain harnesses laser ablation to vaporize the dangerous oily layer created by leaves on the line. Cleaning is repeatable, as it removes contamination without causing any damage to the rail.

Improved friction levels prevent train wheels from blocking, reducing the number of flat spots and resulting in less maintenance, better punctuality and happier passengers! The technique can also work on grease, rust and waste.

The technology holds the title for the most sustainable rail cleaning option in the market today, with the lowest long-term running costs and CO2 emissions, through its use of pure energy and no by-products.

Key features

Control System
The LaserTrain's control system is easy to operate as all of the hardware and software is combined for a fully autonomous clean. By inputting rail networks geographic information system (GIS) data, the system can switch automatically between it's two operational modes without any manual help; Transport Mode where the cleaning end of the system is raised to avoid hitting rail obstacles, and Cleaning Mode where it engages the railhead for cleaning.

Laser Safety
To prevent lasering on the same spot, it will shut off at speeds under 2mph.

Client Dashboard
We provide all of our partners with a live dashboard to help keep track of the LaserTrain. From this we can pull a full report for the performance period showing analysis such as the live position of the train, where the train has been, slip slide results and miles cleaned.

How it works

The LaserTrain's control system combines all hardware and software for an easy autonomous clean. By using GIS data, the system can switch automatically between two modes without an operator; Transport Mode is when the LTC is raised to avoid hitting any rail obstacles, and Cleaning Mode is when it is low to the railhead for cleaning.

One pass over of the laser can clear contamination without track damage, allowing for a repeatable process. To prevent lasering on the same spot, it will shut off at speeds under 2mph. Various cleaning speeds are available to choose from:
25 mph/40 kph
45 mph/70 kph
60 mph/100 kph

The LaserTrain technology can either be built into existing train wagons or installed onto a separate wagon. Both get pulled by locomotives while the laser cleans the tracks.

Tailored to meet your needs

The following LaserTrain elements can be modified to suit each rail networks unique needs.

Model Type
The laser technology can either be built into an existing train wagon or installed onto a separate wagon as a modular container design. Both get pulled by locomotives while the laser cleans the tracks.

Cleaning speeds
Choose between three speed options: 25 mph/40 kph, 45 mph/70 kph, 60 mph/100 kph

Contract
The system can be purchased outright or on a lease contract.

Due to variations in design and contract, pricing is based on individual requests. Contact us for more details.
